Authentic Jareesh Recipe: A Traditional Saudi Arabian Dish
Introduction:
Jareesh (or Harees) is a beloved traditional Saudi Arabian dish made from crushed wheat, slow-cooked with meat, yogurt, and aromatic spices. Ingredients:
For the Jareesh:

- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Jareesh
- Rinse the crushed wheat thoroughly and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
- In a deep pot, melt 2 tbsp of ghee or butter over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden and fragrant.
- Add the chicken or lamb pieces and cook until they turn golden brown.
- Season with salt, black pepper, cumin, coriander, and cardamom, stirring well.
- Pour in the water or meat broth and bring it to a boil.
Step 2: Cook the Jareesh
- Drain the soaked Jareesh and add it to the pot.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Once the Jareesh has softened and absorbed the liquid, add the yogurt and mix well.
- Continue cooking on low heat for another 15-20 minutes until it reaches a creamy consistency.

- In a small pan, melt 1 tbsp of ghee or butter and lightly toast the cinnamon.
